Today was High School Registration day
(YAY!!!)
Meaning,
I go with Krystin and Logan down to their new school.
(Kay even got to tag along and wake up super early, lucky!)
We made good time.
Left at 7:25am arrived at the school at 8:40am
3 trains, one bus, and a walk.
1 hour 15 mins.
It was crowded at that time
Logan, Krystin, me, and Kayla... holding on..
bus, train, train, train, walk.
almost there!
Oh, feeling like normal life again.
School.
Makes me laugh,
The Principal of the American International School
is Australian!
Kids got their class schedules, book lists, and had to order uniforms.
Waiting in line to pay, perfect opportunity to make friends.
They actually made a few REALLY nice, super outgoing friends.
We are still thinking Krystin and Logan
should be the school Mascots.
Haven't met an American Student yet,
and they are the only white high school students that we have seen yet.
Orientation went well.
The other kids thought that my kids were triplets.
Made me laugh again...
Our next stop was at college for Kay.
She slightly missed the deadline for apps this semester,
with moving and a death in the family and the such...
(Don't worry she is mastering Japanese/Canto and studying online in the mean time)
So, we were trying to make sure she was set for next semester.
-Well, a bunch of the kids happened to be going
to that college that is just around the corner
from the high school for lunch.
My kids were invited to have lunch with them,
which was nice.
The kids even helped them order.
It was funny though.
I was listening to the 6-7 teen boys that my kids
were having lunch with talk to my kids.
-Keep in mind, lunch was VERY Asian.-
They were asking the kids, "do you eat organs?"...
My kids, "Nope"...
One of the boys says, "My favorite are fish eyeballs!
I love the way the liquid squishes out when I bite them."
Kayla said, "Well, someone has to eat them!"
I love Kay's responses, she is so funny.
--- Yah, I was thinking, SICK!---
They are totally typical teens, with a Hong Kong flavor.
They were all from different places though
- Hong Kong, Beijing, India and even Canada?
(They all, except the Indian guy, appeared Asian though. )
There is a HUGE mall that connects the metro to the University..
A.D.D. Moment ...
On the way to lunch we walked through the mall...
Logan happened to spot a See's on like the 4th floor!
SOOO HAPPY!!!
See's I love you!
At the College
Ok, almost.
Ta-Da!
I am extra happy cause I have See's
Love the Dragons
Next stop.
I had read about this little Cosplay store in Mong Kok
called Spider,
Owned and operated by a 19 yo girl and her sister.
All her own designs, really amazing...
The kids' school wasn't too far from this place.
Ok, WAY closer than where we live,
and even though it was SUPER HOT,
we were determined to find it!
Hmn take a bus?
and wait outside in the heat?
No, thank You!
Back to the AIR CONDITIONED Metro we went.
Did I ever mention there are a LOT of stairs in the metro.
Really not handicap friendly.
and it is crowded downtown, during the day
As you near the exit, wind through the seemingly endless
corridors and stairways starts to hit you...
You know you are getting close to the real world
as the wind in the form of a wave
of hot humid warm air start to hit you...
As we stepped out on to the street we saw this sign,
Nathan Road!
Yay! Just what we were looking for, thankfully!
Just finding the actual street is only the first step though...
You have to keep a sharp eye,
because entire 5 story mall entrances can be missed.
All that you can see from the outside world
is an opening with a set of escalators,
and the entrance won't even be on Nathan road.
Our Determination was great though, and we found it!
By this point it was 1:15pm
and the store was still closed
The girl running the store next to it,
said to try back in an hour or two.
Grr... Why in Hong Kong the stores open SO late,
and whenever they feel like it? I don't know!
Well, we didn't want to come all the back down there,
so we decided to check out some of the other cool stores in the mall.
Now, keep in mind
in Hong Kong there are signs
EVERYWHERE to NOT take Pictures....
So, any pics of stores don't really exist, ok?
Well, I have a slight weakness for Llamas.
In fact,
I am sure that heaven will include happy little prancing llamas.
My kids always have an eye open for special new friends to join the family.
and Kayla saw this store!!!
(How could I miss it?)
Oh can you say LOVE?!
Instant LOVE!!!
I showed some self control and didn't adopt every single one,
(there were MANY)
and at the same time encourage everyone in the family to fast
to pay for my passion for the next week!
I only adopted this one baby.
This perfect little baby.
The one that first caught Kay's eye...
Can you see her in the pic above, smiling?
Funny, we bought an American Llama in HK!
Thanks for finding her, Kay!
The llama was meant to be,
as after we looked around the mall a bit,
picked the PERFECT LLAMA,
the Spider store was open.
The girls were IN love with all of the costumes,
but they each had one that called to them.
Amazingly beautiful costumes.
Luckily, my girls are tiny, because
Hong Kong is big into one size only stores
and all the outfits are the equivalent to US size small.
Which, both the girls wear.
(The girl at the store did measure the girls first to make sure.)
Don't mind the clutter in the background, please....
Booterific!
The details were breathtaking
every last detail, perfect...
So darling!
Now to find a costume for Logan....
We are in pursuit!
Bonus: Hong Kong is really trying to fatten us up...
Why do they have the best treats? Why are they so CUTE too?
Sorry about the quality of the pics, but you know on the sly is tricky.
This place actually had an employee hovering in front of the case....
