After a VERY busy,
exhausting, and
Super FUN weekend....
The school Year was set to start...
Monday, August 27th...
(Even if all the Summer Homework wasn't quite done yet..)
We usually,
like to have a special Dinner
to celebrate the beginning of yet another new school year.
Usually, we decorate,
and like to think of a theme to focus on
(beyond academics) as a family.
This year things were a little topsy-turvey...
Instead of our usual dinner at home,
We surprised the kids by meeting them at Comic World
and taking them to Outback (for a taste of home).
It was really awesome!
As for a theme..
We are still working on it.
Krystin's suggestion, "Carpe diem "
"Seize the day"
I agree we should all seize the day,
in the sense of appreciating each day,
and not wasting it.
Always make the most of each day...
Seize the opportunity to learn and experience life!
The kids will be attending
They have to wear a uniform.
Think about how much time they will save in the morning,
not having to decide what to wear! :p
Apparently, we Americans have BIG FEET...
Finding shoes is a bit annoying....
Even at the (overpriced) American Outlet stores.
Add to that the requirement of Black Leather,
and my requirement of good support for their feet...
(They are runners after all.)
I tried asking some people at the
shoe stores where to get 'school shoes'..
One guy, looked scared shook his head, No, and went away...
Yah, I don't think he understood much English.
Ultimately, we figured it out!
I really like the shoes too.
They are cute and are a hybrid with athletic shoes,
so have great support.
We arrived home from dinner at
about 9pm...
and then the kids did Homework til almost 1am...
They had to be up by 6am...
(feels like school days already)
Here is the first day of school
6:30am photo shoot.
Krystin sporting her school Uniform.
Making 11th Grade LOOK GOOD!
Logan thinking,
"Why is summer over?"
Just kidding!
Logan a Senior?!
Holy heck, where does the time go?
Watch out American International School,
The Haser kids are coming, ha!
After humoring me for some pics...
They ran for the bus,
because that is WHAT YOU DO in HK...
Barely, caught it
(there would be another in about 6 mins, fyi)
Set out.
Without a Mommy.
I just waved as the bus drove them to the MTR.
Where they took 3 trains and walked to school!
(Look closely at those enthusiastic faces!)
They seemed to have a great first day.
Made a bunch of friends,
and while they do MISS their old friends a lot,
they are optimistic about the school year!!
