Easy, FUN, Healthy Snack!!

I had NO idea!

No idea, that Popcorn was not a mystical creation....

Seriously.

I mean you have to have some sort of magical powder right,
to make it pop in the microwave.
Or is it the bags they are sealed in at the store.
Must be something that is done to them.
Some magical popping in a micro-chemical?

Seemed like a mystery to me.

We do have a popcorn making machine,
because that is the only way you can do it without the magic bag/powder, right?!!!
But, Holy HIGH HECK - SO MESSY!

Well, to my surprise Popcorn does NOT have to be messy or mystical.

I saw this Blog
and the tales of easy homemade micro popcorn within the pages...
Well, they are true!

No magic.
No mystery.
Just 1/4 cups of corn kernels
a brown paper bag.
2 mins 30 secs in the micro.

and you get this.

Perfect popcorn everytime!!!
No weird preservatives.
No salt.
No slimey butter.
(I don't much like salt or butter, sugar YES, salt yuck)

Just a 15 cal per cup, healthy snack.
(Yes, you can soup up the popcorn anyway you like,
but so far my kids seem happy with micro-corn in the raw.)

Maybe, others know of this secret,
but it was SHOCKING to me!!!
So, I HAD to share!

Happy Popping! (:

Midnight HUNGER Games!

Ok.
No.  I didn't read the book series.

But, I have teens.

So, when my hardworking daughter(Krystin) requested
that we see a THURSDAY night (really Friday Morning)
Midnight showing of the Hunger Games...
How could I say NO?!

I mean just because we had to be up at 5am
and have to get up at 5am the next day
Oh, and there was Track Meet the night before,
and we weren't home til after 9pm.

Sure!  Let's do it!

Well, it is obligatory for a midnight showing to camp out side the theater
for a minimum of 7 hours before the movie.

We thought it would be fun to dress up for the event.
My friend posted a fun idea about making shirts  for the event on her blog.
Now I had to figure out what kind of shirts I wanted to create.
I had an idea of what I wanted the shirts to look like,
and after searching for a while I found a Mocking Jay I liked.
I turned into to an iron on print.

I think they came out really cute.
Super fun!
It was PERFECT on the black shirts,
and best yet, kids liked them!

Krystin and her Good friend Kimmie

 Oh, and SUPER Cute.
The kids brought the Narwhal Movie bags
I made them for Valentine's Day!

Anyhow, I thought the movie was very well done. (:

Track - 2012

This season is already in FULL Swing!

Krystin has been working really hard to get on Varsity!
Last meet she MADE it!(:

She ran Varsity 400 meters
&
Varsity 4x400 Relay!
She came in 3rd in Varsity for the 400!
In her First Varsity race!

Her current PR (personal record) for the 400 is 61.3 seconds,
which is SO fast!
She is hoping to break 60 by the end of the season.

She also runs the 200 meter.
and
this year she is training to do Pole Vault!

Logan is running Varsity 800
He dabbles a little in the 3200 (2 mile)
and the 1600 (1 mile)
but the 800 is his thing.
He came in 3rd for Varsity last meet as well!

I am so proud of their hard work and amazing dedication.

They often get to school at 630am and are at school until 5pm.
The last meet was after school.
They got to school by 630am and were there until 8:30pm.
Still had to eat dinner and do homework, and be up by 5am the next day.

Such dedication....

I am very proud of them!

Scenes from the Season so far

First Meet: 3-8

My favorite part of having kids close in age.
I love catching a glimpse of this:
So cute!

Waiting to race

What was my time?

3-21

I pulled out my camera to sneak a pic of them talking.
Right as I hit the button they did this!
What good kids, humoring their Mommy without even knowing.

Other fun things...

Krystin wanted a power shirt for track:
Our nickname for her has always been "Love bug"
Well last year, her Grampa said it should now be "Lightning bug"!
Agreed:
