Foreign Fruit: Taiwan Champagne Watermelon

Foreign Fruit:  Taiwan Champagne Watermelon

Doesn't that just sound fancy?
A Champagne Watermelon!

Well, we LOVE watermelon around here.  In fact, it was Indy's favorite fruit, before she encountered the Heavenly power of the Yellow Honeydew melon.   So, it didn't seem too daring trying a fancy watermelon.

On a side note, out here they have the dried creature section in the middle of the fresh produce... It smells AWFUL! I usually like to smell my fruit when I pick it, but everything just smells like dried fish, which isn't quite helpful...

Anyhow, the watermelon LOOKS just like a normal watermelon from the outside...

But inside...  Well, that is where they hide the Champagne!

We couldn't really make guesses as to what it looked like inside, because they had cut ones in the store.

It is a bright yellow color!
A YELLOW Watermelon, so cool!

Now for however much Todd and Indy loved the Yellow Honeydew, Kayla loved this baby.  She doesn't like her fruit over the top sweet or sour, but this little baby was a perfect mix for Kayla.  It still had the delightful texture of a watermelon, with the taste similar to a watermelon, but perhaps a more elegant taste.  Something a little more savory and rich even...

Champagne Watermelon for the Win!
We will definitely get this one again, even though the fact that it is the color of squash kind of throws me!
