Foreign Fruit: Yellow Honeydew Melon

It has been a while, but we have not forgotten about our foreign fruit fun!

Out here, the available produce changes somewhat regularly.
Our produce usually comes from all over Asia, but sometimes from Europe or North America.

Recently, while shopping I noticed a Yellow Honeydew melon.
Well, Todd LOVES Honeydew. It is pretty much his fave, so I had to get it!

It is always a good sign when you are buying something new and the lady at the store that is checking you out picks up the new things sniffs it and gives you a thumbs up!   Yes, she really did!  I am assuming thumbs up (with a smile) means the same thing here as it does at home.  As in, you did good!  YAY!

At home we all looked at this yellow melon baby and made some guesses as to what it would look like inside.  We all agreed it would probably taste pretty much like a Honeydew, being that it WAS a honeydew!

What we couldn't imagine was that it would look like this inside!
I have never seen a fruit with a perfect triangle inside.
Have you?

So cool!

Well, this fruit was probably the BIGGEST hit that we have had so far.
At least with Todd and Indy.
I am not sure who ate more of the fruit...
I have NEVER seen Indy go so crazy for a fruit, and she loves many types.
She kept eating it as fast as she could and begging for more!
Really was cute.

What does it taste like?   It taste like a honeydew that was grown by using honey-water, instead of just plain water.  Sweet, delicious, and so juicy that I need to now wash the floor....

Definitely try it if you get the chance!

*Random extra note - yellow honeydew melons possess a rich history, showing up in Egyptian hieroglyphics as far back as 2,400 B.C.  (from here)
