Since we have the privilege of Kayla attending University out here,
I was able to get a first day pic of the very first day of her 4 year program in Hong Kong!
She did attend in the Spring, but she was a Visiting Student (no commitment).
That way she could check it out and decide if she wanted to continue here.
I have to give her a shout out too, because studying at a University in Hong Kong, China is not easy. She is studying in English, but most teachers are local (which makes understanding them a little more challenging). She also is usually the only 'white' child in her classes, and definitely the only American. She has a great appreciation for what it feels like to not only be the minority, but to also not be able to speak the language of her peers (even though the classes are to be in English!). This is NO Small task. It can be quite intimidating, but she has done so well and made lots of friends!
Here is to a very successful, and fulfilling school year !
Side Note:
Ok, it is totally funny. Since Kayla is an 'international' student and will be attending the English speaking portion out here. She was required to take an English Proficiency test. Essentially, is her English good enough to study in English. We both kind of snickered at that.
Then she was able to complete her "enrolment"...
English has many different flavors.
(The proficiency test, btw, was British English.)
This little cutie is going to miss Kayla during the day, but I will do what I can to keep her happy!
Off to her first day of school, which also happened to be the same day Logan left (SAD!).
One last hug!
Here is to a great year, Kayla-love!
