Sometimes it is HARD being Mom...

Ok, Many times it is hard to be Mom.

No.  I am not talking about dealing with bickering,
moodiness, argumentativeness, demands, early mornings, late night projects, chores, etc.
Although, those things can be hard too!

I am talking about being helpless to FIX things for your children.

Helpless to stave off their pain and suffering....
Whether it be physical, mental, emotional....

Hearing your child, who you know is terrified,
cry in the back room of a dental office as she has her four wisdom teeth pulled...
Is nothing less than unbearable.
Hence, the reason I kind of ran back to her room,
without permission, kneeled on the floor next to the 'chair of torture'
with my head under operating tray,
just to hold her hand and talk to her,
to attempt to ease her suffering in the only way I could...

As a Mom.
You want to PROTECT your kids from harm.

Make it better, if harm (even good for them harm)
falls upon them...
A Mother's heart aches for her child when they are suffering,
and only finds relief when her child's suffering is relieved.

Also,
Watching your daughter work with all that is in her
to accomplish her goals as an athlete,
to then be challenged by physical limitation
...is...
Frustrating and Hard.

Krystin had a follow-up with her Sport MD yesterday regarding X-rays
He showed the X-rays to us.
I couldn't see anything.
Radiologist said it looked normal,
Sport MD said there was a hazy spot where the pain is occurring.
(Lucky he knows what he is looking for!)
Which essentially, is a precursor to a stress fracture.
So...
Krystin will be in a leg brace for at least a week.
which means no race on Saturday.
Seeing the disappointment in her face is - HARD!
But knowing it is NOT a break
and that a child with her drive and talent
will be kicking butt in the next couple weeks is  - awesome!

Kayla is doing much better as well.
She no longer looks like this:

She was a little concerned about pain in one area yesterday,
so I took her for a quick peek from the Dentist.
He said she looks PERFECT, healing beautifully!

So, yes being a Mom is hard sometimes,
but being able to be there for your kids,
even though it is hard
and knowing that just being their with them
makes them feel better - is PRICELESS...

I am so grateful to be a Mommy to my kids!
I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world....
