More Hong Kong Randomness

There are two ways we can walk the dogs when we exit our abode.
We go down the steps toward the road..
and
can go to the left or the right.

To the left it is kind of like "NO Man's Zone"

To the right,
there is a constant flow of people.
Lots of bus stops.
Pretty busy.

Now, the dogs are NOT allowed to do their business,
until we cross the magical threshold
where the tile floors turn to brick pathways.
So, this walk right or left is the only 'ok' zone to piddle and poo.
Excited to know that right?

Anyhow, if you go to the RIGHT...
The pathway looks well kept.
It is common to see workers,
with their amazing brooms hard at work.
(as an aside,
this is the only type of broom we have seen used by workers in HK)
 The path is pretty clean,
well considering there are a zillion dogs that live here,
and do their business along that path.
There are rules.
You must clean and dispose of poo (seems obvious)
Although, some people apparently are confused.
And for pee.
You have to rinse the pee.
Seriously, when the dog pees you have to squirt water on it.
Yep, it is true.

Now the Path to the left....
Is a bit more scary.
Apparently, when there are fewer eyes
to see if you are cleaning up after your furry friend,
it is more of an optional thing.
It is a definite path where you watch your step....

This is an actual picture of the ground from the path to the left.
Yes.  I do believe someone died because of the stench.
Honey and Lily like to pee on the head,
which of course makes us laugh.
-It is supposed to show you it is a walking path,  I suppose.-
Ok.  It isn't that bad...
It is actually a pretty pathway,
as long as you watch your step...
But really.

Guess which path is the dogs' favorite?
Yah, of course, stinky ville.
See Lily, Dad - left please?

Ok, I know you were wondering if there was an emergency,
and we had to book it out of here with FOUR pets.
What would we do?
How would that work out?
Well, Kayla and I were discussing this,
and came up with a plan.
Out in HK, you bring your own grocery bag with you everywhere.
They are pretty sturdy and convenient.
So, we thought, Hmn...
We could each throw a dog in a bag and grab a bird cage and go.

We tested out this theory!

Lily climbed right in!
Poor pup! LOL!
 No. She loved it, really!

Ok.  Have you seen a recurring theme with little squidlies in it?
Yah, well that is because,
they are our 'Grand-squids'...
Kay's boyfriend made them for her,
and they are now part of the family.

They had a sleep over with Duffy.
They love to greet their Uncle and Aunt after school.

Oh, heck even Indy loves them!

Grampa loves them too, even if he looks scared.
Look at those smiling Squiddles.
They were laughing it up.

We have learned that Umbrellas
should be a daily part of every outfit.
Sometimes there are random downpours that come out of NO WHERE,
umbrella is super handy for that.
Or.
As you can see,
on sunny days,
an Umbrella is a MUST!
They must have the lowest rate of sun related skin cancer, I swear!

If you were wondering,
the squids do like disneyland too
and Smallworld is their favorite ride...

We took the kids to Disney last weekend and sweated to death...
Logan and Krystin are now back into full force homework mode,
so they went home after,
but Todd, Kayla and I went downtown.

Such a different world...

streetside vendors everywhere.
Kay bought some freshly juiced sugar cane from the corner.
Pretty cool to watch them transform the huge stock into liquid in seconds.

 While we were wandering around,
a midst the hustle and bustle and chaos that downtown is,
we came across this Garden.
Beautiful and serene...
and tucked away in the center of the city...

I know.
TOILETS again...
But, really, when you are hot you drink LOTS of liquid,
and you think about these things more than you would otherwise,
while you run around.

This is actually a picture of the toilet at our clubhouse where we live.
Pretty nice, huh?!  Not a hole in the floor or anything!
But..... (no pun intended, ok maybe)
This is how you find the toilets EVERY TIME if there is one.
Because, when you are used to a squat toilet,
what the heck do you do with a seat??
You get that thing out of the way.

Oh, we tried the indoor pool.
There are three pools in our complex,
it is a big complex.
We really liked it,
and luckily didn't get kicked out for being to noisy,
but we did get some looks.

I know you have been missing our foreign fruit episodes.
Don't think that I have forgotten.
I haven't.

This one is HIGH on the list.
They look like LETHAL weapons.
The kids said they would try it,
even though we were told it tastes like Cat pee.
Well, to be fair how do we really know what cat pee tastes like?
I haven't been able to bring myself to buy one.
I want to get a pre-cut one,
but they smell SO BAD....
Can't do it.
YET.
The locals seem to LOVE it.
It can't be that bad, right?

And
because all of my random babbling wasn't super fun enough...
Let me close with this....

(don't mind that I look as tired and hot as I actually was, btw)

Everything is sweet in the world,
When Indy wants to share her Mango...
Thanks Indy.

Well, that is...
Until she wants it back....

'til next time....
