Smoking HOT Movies ...

Did you know that DVD's are 

made "Region Specific"???

I didn't.

Honestly, had NEVER even thought about it.

Apparently, there are 8 Regions

USA is in Region 1

Asia, Region 3

Really there are 8, 

plus Region 0(no codes) and ALL (all codes).

(Kind of like lock codes on phones, I guess)

Well, we knew the flat we were moving to had a DVD player, 

so we brought some favorite DVDs.  

Actually, Logan picked the movies that came. 

 A story for another time.

Kids were excited when they got out here.

Movie Night!
Threw a movie into the DVD player and...

NOTHING!

That is when we learned about regions.

Our DVDs do NOT play out here.

So, when we unexpectedly had to return to the US,

we brought back actually two DVD players.

Well, we originally did not want to bring too many electronics to Hong Kong, because you need adapters for them and it didn't seem stable.  Besides, we can't find US to HK adapters out here with the electricity converters. You need both, btw, adapter and converter.

We were told if you don't have the converter your appliance will FRY. 

I didn't know they literally meant fry...

Well, once again, kids were excited.

Daddy was hooking up the US DVD player.

This WILL WORK for SURE!

He plugged it into our adapter/converter...

Almost instantly large PLUMES of smoke 

came billowing out of the DVD player.

Hmn, apparently, somehow the converter 

switch was flipped on the device.

So.  Yes.  It is TRUE.

If the converter is not engaged...

Your device will literally FRY!

If ONLY I had my camera at the ready.

It was a most impressive sight.

How can that much smoke come out of a DVD player?

Live action.

WAY better than a movie!

Supposedly, there are DVD players

 that play more than one region.  

That is our new quest.

We re-hooked it up and it worked?!
Crazy, right?
Will it keep working that is yet to be seen...
