Recent - Hk Happenings

---Random update with pics ---

Hong Kong Disneyland
is like a baby Disneyland.
It is small, but growing!

Which is very exciting for us!
That means new things to look forward to see and experience!
WOO HOOO

Last Saturday they opened a new land
Grizzly Gulch Land.

Now, really, it was VERY HOT!
SOOO HOT!
Sweaty, HUMID, HOTTTT....

But, we are die hard, so we went.
Todd & I get ridiculously excited about going to Disney!
The Mickey Mouse train is SO COOL!
Every time!
-Thank GOD Hong Kong has a Disney! -

My baby Duffy is on the Left,
Krystin's is on the right.
Mine is from HK, and hers the U.S.
(They were excited to go too!)
Pic from train with tink

Did I say it was hot?
Cause it was TOO Hot, really...
This new land has a cool new train ride,
but since it was the first day....
Of course, they were having issues with it.....
We tried waiting ...
But it was really HOT!

Oh, Look we found the air conditioning!
Seriously, the only place that had A/C in this land was the 'toilet',
and it would be a little awkward hanging out in the toilet til the ride was working!

So, we went to the VERY Air conditioned
(even the area where the line for the ride is air conditioned)
It's a small world!

I love the Hong Kong land.
It is so pretty!

I am in LOVE with this castle....
it is made of gold and jewels...
Amazing...

So, since it was a million degrees and humid,
that and we live like 10 mins away....
We decided we would come back later to experience the ride!

So.
We live really close to Todd's work!
I LOVE it sooo much!
When it cools off we could walk there!
But, I usually meet Todd for lunch.
Sometimes I make lunch, other times we eat local.
It, honestly costs about the same....
Because, when we eat from home
we are eating the imported food!
Sometimes the kids come with.
 I sure love these faces!

Ok, so Todd's work is located in
some 90 International store outlet mall. (tourist mall)
which is attached by a walk way
to the 'local mall'
I LOVE the Local mall!

Krystin demonstrating the walk way

If you look down from the walk way
you can see our shuttle for our flat stop.
(gold bus is our shuttle)

There is a little area in the 'local side'
that has an open market
that changes every week.
It is sooo cool!
(just don't hesitate,
because the products will be gone in a few days)
There is also a 'permanent' market place that is found downstairs.
It is kind of hidden.
You have to go through a door way between stores,
and this secret world is there!
Amazing.
I will post pics soon.

Back in our flat...
there is a magnet in this spot that attracts kids bottoms
I am not joking it is weird!
Every time I look ...
There is a different kid there
 Dogs like it too

Hmn, one of these things is not like the other...
One of these things just doesn't belong

Logan likes to run at the very hottest time of the day.
One day, this is all that was left.
Yes. He melted.

There is a movie theater in the mall,
with most of the big releases!
The best part...
Is the movies are smart out here.
How you ask?
They are not priced the same.
They are priced by how new, how popular, and time of day.
Also, my favorite thing...
You can keep your 3D glasses and when you bring them back with you, they don't charge you for another pair!

We brought back this little anime' dude
of Renee's for the kids to love on.
Krystin brought him to the movies.
He seems to be enjoying Asia.

When we first got back to HK -
Todd and I were sooo Jet lagged...
Even my sweet Duffy was!

Sometimes, for dinner or a treat...
We hop on a bus to the airport (10 mins).
The airport is more like a mall it is huge
and has lots of cool places to eat.
I love the view as we arrive.

My favorite place there
Hui Lau Shan
(Healthy Treat)

Kayla's treat of choice

Mine
(with coconut ice cream instead of mango)
If I had to eat only one food forever - this would be it!

Ok, so places don't like you to take pics of the food there...
But, they send ads in the mail....
So....
McDonald's Breakfast (in Hong Kong dollars)
Although, the breakfast sandwich is available all day.
Sometimes we get it for dinner, just because we can.

Do you seeee those cute little faces?!
OMG I love Hello Kitty!
and Todd must love me,
because he bought me 2 of them!

Wasabi dipping sauce!

Yep, they love this spot.  No joke!

When we head down town on the metro,
which is an adventure (to us!)...
It takes about a while to get there.
(Remember, we live kinda far from there)
This is what it looks like.
The kids read, usually on their kindles.
(Thanks Jai and Grama)
 Sometimes, real books
 Todd plays Angry birds! LOL!
I entertain myself by taking their pics,
and mostly just looking out the window with amazement...
I love Hong Kong...

Hanging in the flat

View from flat.
They are adding on to the complex,
hence the building equipment.

Ok, I love Boba drinks!
They are sooo fun!
You can get any flavor under the sun, practically.
Kayla likes Mango (yum)
Logan, Strawberry
Krystin, Lychee
Well, I decided to try a new place.
They had a new type of boba
(or pearls as they call them here)
They are the white balls.
It said something about super juicy.
I don't know...
I tried to just order Mango with the white pearls...
Yah, I got, I don't even KNOW WHAT?!
Lots of stuff.....
Well, apparently, those yummy little juicy explosion bobas....
Must have MSG in them...
Because within MINUTES...
I had a bright red rash from head to toe....
and felt super horrible and dizzy...
can't really tell in the pic, just trust me, not fun

Haven't had that problem with any other bobas,
so I will just avoid that place!

Oh...  And every morning...
Dog's get their walkies on.
We have an alternating schedule of who walks them,
and consequently feeds the mosquitoes.
I love that Honey loves this monkey!
It is sooo cute!
She has had it, since we have had her.
Yah, it smells awesome!

Grocery shopping in HK!
Isles are small, so are carts!
 Can or bottle?
Cute hubby for sure!
 Grocery transport device!

Beautiful sky!
(view from flat)

We scheduled a little surgery...
Green Squidle, AKA Gleam,
was made with SUPER powered Love
(in the form of the BIGGEST, strongest magnets in his legs).
The amount of love in his legs made him have to stay home,
as he was a danger to any electronic within proximity to him...
So...
He spent the night with his Grama, aka ME...
and he was very tenderly freed from those magnets.
Before
 After
He felt sooo much better,
and was so excited to get to go Bye-bye!
Not even a mark on him!

 Krystin made popcorn.
Indy stole some
(no worries, no salt or butter, just popped kernels)
 Lily sat like a Lady!

Indy stole a piece of Todd's Swedish fish,
Then laughed!

Dinner time

Indy attack

Our first electric bill here.
Yah, wow, try and read that.

Shopping, again.
We do a lot of that.
The cookies look like 'normal' cookies...
Yet, Durian flavor.
The locals said that Durian (a type of fruit)
tastes like Cat poo.
Hmn, we have been hesitant to try it for ourselves.
 Almost, like home
An entire isle, both sides with JUST RAMEN

Indy is not the best helper for putting away groceries.

Or taking PICS to send to Daddy
I said, smile Indy - she grabbed my lip
 then hid...
 then tickled my face!

Chilling at home

Todd and I are on a pursuit to find
the BEST Mexican Restaurant out here.
I know, we are in Asia, why????
So... We were told there was a great place in Wan Chai
We hadn't been down there, yet!
It was really fun.

We went to a place called - Agave
Super good!
A little extra spicy, but good!
 We found the night clubs
(and the street walkers... yah, think that is legal down there)

 Coyote, another Mexican place
(we were told that one is more tex-mex)
Do you know what is better than the restaurants?
These darn street side vendors!
 They sell fresh delicious waffles!
with butter, pb, and honey...
Crazy good!

Health Center Board

Pizza Hut mailer.
Yes, that is small sausage thing, prawns (aka shrimp) and scallops, with pineapple!

They don't have central air here.
There are little ac units in each room.
The one in the pic below wasn't working.
To fix it, they send guys to build a bamboo scaffolding outside the window....
It was crazy they just climbed out on to the 6 inch ledge and built it!
When the ac will be fixed now, not sure?

Anyhow, that's what we have been up to lately!

I have really enjoyed reading about your experiences in HK. I hope that you are printing your blog so you can enjoy it later. Thank for going into detail, especially for those of us who are not "world" travelers.
