College Tour: University of Hong Kong

College Application Time around here (again!)

This time it was Krystin's turn to tour a potential future University.

The tour was at H.K.U. (aka University of Hong Kong).

HKU is nestled in the hills above the city.
It sits almost as if it is in the clouds above the sky scrapers with a view of the sea...

I met Krystin at the Metro by her school, and we had to catch TWO cabs to get there.
Apparently, the cabs by her school don't go to the other school. Weird.

Krystin focused on her homework while we commuted through mid-day traffic.

She enjoyed some lunch I brought her.

While we were waiting here:

We decided to stop by the 'Toilet' as they call it here.
I thought it was nice that they were trying to promote hand hygiene.
Then I laughed, because while the instructions give a thorough example of a nice hand massage they do not mention soap or water.
Apparently, to have good hand hygiene you just need to rub them really good.

On to the tour.

The University is 102 years old, and this is one of the original buildings where classes were held.
Now it is used more for ceremonies.

There were many beautiful walkways..

This was a sculpture that was donated to remember those lost at Tiananmen square.
I have to be honest.  It is a bit disturbing.

Look closely...

Amazing views everywhere.

Also, one thing that stood out to us is around the campus there are vast areas for students to sit, study, or socialize.

Of course, they had a Starbucks on campus (actually they have 2).

Lecture halls

Peaceful study area.
In the building that surrounds this area there are tons of places for students to study.

Krystin took a quick pic with the Dean!

Currently, getting to HKU is a bit of work....
However, next year, this little spot will be a MTR stop right on campus!

Nice!

Dorms on campus.

Krystin enjoying a sitting area.

They even have a subway.

Waiting for a minibus to go to the MTR out front of the University.

Well, that is a brief tour of HKU!

Now we just wait and see where Krystin chooses to study...

The anticipation is killing me!
