Kayla College update

Not only is she cute, great with ALL the pets, and has a super sense of humor,

 and lately an obsession with dinosaurs, story for another day, she is also an amazing student!

She completed her first 'official' semester as an international degree seeking student last semester.

Her teachers are from around the world, many are local, but all have accents and a different way of communicating.  Add to that, she is probably one of the ONLY native English speakers in her classes and it gets more interesting. Studying at a University can be challenging without the above factors, but add them to the curriculum and it is truly a growth process and a challenge.   

Kayla took on that challenge and has excelled! 

 She earned a 3.9 GPA last semester, amazing!

We are so proud of her!

She was also selected by one of her teachers to be on a committee to revue the way in which the courses are taught.  Very awesome.  Her voice has already been deemed valuable and is being heard.

This semester she has some really interesting classes.  They are all required general education classes under the umbrella of the Liberal Arts College.  I had to share, because they are so unique.  They sound like they will be really  fun.

- Psychology for young professionals (she wants to major in Psych)

-Vampires and Monsters in Literature and Culture

- Re-Imagining English

-Shakespeare: Intro to Genius 

- Individuals and Society

She is very excited about her classes and, so far, her teachers seem to be excellent.  Outside of class she is volunteering to help second language English learners with their English.  She is signed up to be a mentor for minority youth studying in Hong Kong (which Krystin pointed out she technically is one), and is looking into some other leadership and job opportunities.  I am not sure if we will see much of that cute girl this semester!

We are very proud of her hard work, desire to not only excel academically, but in leadership capacities as well!  Here is to a great semester!
