Logan, our BABY boy, graduated from High school!
Graduation is usually an afternoon/evening thing in California.
Here it is a morning thing.
We had to be to the event by 8:30am, it started at 10am, but grads have to be there early.
Being that we live far away from most everything (except the airport), we had to be up pretty early.
We were all a bit groggy, but EXCITED!
We all squished into a red cab and headed over.
Logan, Kayla, Krystin and I squished into the back.
I am so glad my kids all shower!
Graduation was held at the Hong Kong Jockey Club in ShaTin.
Woo-hoo! Indoor Event! It was very nice.
They had a slide show presenting each of the grads as we waited.
These flowers were so beautiful and filled the entire room with their wonderful scent.
The Graduate
Krystin was given the honor of being a flag bearer in the ceremony.
She carried the American flag, appropriate!
Interesting side note.
This is an American International School, so yes the theme is America.
We are in Hong Kong, which while it still operates as autonomous nation, is a Special Administrative Region of China. So, having a graduation ceremony with the American flag is very special here... Yet, there was this guy (I am guessing a relative, not a parent of a graduate) that was VERY upset about it. He tried to tell the people in charge that it wasn't legal to have the US flag there and such. I only know because he was right in front of me while expressing very adamantly how unhappy he was with the situation. They acknowledged his concern, but said it was legal. Then when America's National Anthem was played, and everyone was standing he sat down. I know it shouldn't make me laugh, but really. Your relative is PAYING to send their kid to the "American" school and it pissed you off... Yes... Interesting.
The theme "Ready to Fly"!! Love it!
The moment we were waiting for!!
Way to go, LoGO!
Krystin with the flag:
After shots:
Love this guy!
Each of the grads was given a perfect, beautiful long stem rose with their diploma...
Sadly, it was SO HOT that it didn't quite make it home...
But, we have the pictures to remember it!
Logan pointed out to me how cool it is that his diploma says 'China' on it.
Good Byes to friends and teachers...
The kids love this teacher, who lived by us!
Logan's friends have the coolest hair, I swear!
Mr. Gartz the guidance counselor that spends HOURS helping them get their college apps completed.
The dudes.
Logan's Comp Science teacher. Love.
Reception, Food yum!
Dawn, Logan's good friend.
Headmaster Fox, imparting last minute wisdom upon Logan.
High school principal, also sharing with Logan.
Kay being cute.
She is good at that.
We asked Logan where he wanted to go for his celebratory Graduation meal.
He said the Flying Pan! (American Style Breakfast Restaurant).
Apparently, he was HUNGRY!
After we headed home and opened cards and gifts.
Awkward sibling love.
Made me laugh...
Apparently, they needed an awkward love moment too.
The main gift.
Kay and Z were anxiously waiting for Logan to take his time and open it.
He could barely stand the anticipation.
Todd was very serious about the suspense.
Finally! Ta-Da!!!!
His first tool in solving the world's problems through math and programming.
Anyone that knows Logan, knows of his passionate dislike for anything that is smoke related.
However, once upon a time, we were at See's Candy, and Logan saw the chocolate cigars.
He said in jest to me, "Mom, when I graduate high school I want you to get me one of those"....
So, since there happens to be a (small) See's out here, and they had one, and I remembered, I had to get him one. HA! He had totally forgotten the request!
Logan had a wonderful Graduation!!
We are so proud of him he graduated with honors academically and in sports as well.
He is a man of character, determination and vision.
We can't see what he will do with his life,
and
We Love him so!!!
Congratulations, sweet Logan, we Love YOU!
