AIS - Sport's Day

Senior Year is tough....

Senior year in Asia is a bit crazy....

Just the 2 + hour a day commute is enough to drive a person mad, but add on to that AP classes, leadership roles, college applications, AP art projects, volunteer work, and then sports - wooh.

Krystin wasn't sure if she would even have time for sports this year,
and really she didn't, but what the heck it is her senior year.

How could she not?

So she participated in Soccer and Track.

However, they are both during the same season,
so she wasn't able to attend practice for both.

Soccer won most times, unless there was a Track meet.

Training for track was pretty much impossible.

Her school has a huge competition once a year called:
"Sports Day"

Now, while Krystin excels at running she hadn't been able to train much at all, so she was a little hesitant and concerned about the event...

However, those long speedy legs of hers didn't let her down.

She not only took 1st in her events, but smashed the school records (again this year).

First in the 100m, 200m, and 400m...

Yes, she is a force to be reckoned with.

Imagine if she actually had time to train?

Nice job, Krystin or as we like to call her 'ligthning-bug'!

Hong Kong Fooding

A yummy treat that we love out here are Mango Mochis.
Well, while Todd and I were in New York, the girls mastered the skill to make them from scratch!
So CUTE! I was totally impressed.

Logan thought that since he was in Hawaii (AKA the US) he wasn't going to be taking part of Chinese New Year festivities.  Well, he was incorrect, and he has been mostly eating Vegetarian since...
In their eating hall this was greeting him.

The girls also have been making Onigiri.
Rice ball thingy.
Kayla even made a bento box for lunch!

Sometime Asia thinks they can pull-off a Western snack.
We thought maybe they could too!
Oh, no... No... Really NO!
Yes.  We love sugar in the West, but really sugar in a CHEDDAR, very Cheddar cracker.
SO SICK.  IT was the sharpest cheddar snack that was SUPER sugary.  ODD!

I love that our produce comes from all over the world.
Bell Peppers from Israel?

There is an 'organic' trend going out here too.
I don't know why, but Compost Grown sounds gross to me.
That is a selling point?

I love the confusing food items too.
Thank you for the English translations.

I have copied the ingredients to help solve the mystery.

There are also many other mysteries when we are downtown.
Now I suppose if learned to read Chinese we could solve a lot of these mysteries, or could we?

In other news, Todd is thinking about trying to be a burglar.
I am kidding.
If he was, I wouldn't post on my blog about it!

He just has some travel coming up that is going to be cold, so I got him a hat to protect his face!

Foreign Fruit: Kiwiberries

Kiwiberries

Seriously!  Who knew there was a such thing as a Kiwiberry.

Well, apparently in New Zealand these little beauties grow.

I wasn't sure how you were supposed to eat these little things.
Do you eat the skin?

The skin seemed a bit tuff,
so I cut them in half and gave the girls little spoons to eat out the yumminess.

Kayla was not too sure about them.
Krystin was excited.

According to my girls they DO taste like Kiwis, just a bit more sour.

If you can find them, give them a try!

Dog's Life: The Comfy Spot

So....  Our Little Honey is 11 years old.

Honey likes a VERY comfortable spot to rest her little 11 year old bones.

She can't jump on to the sofa anymore, so she will bark to be put on the sofa (she still expects to sit on the sofa), and will bark to get down.  It is actually really cute and funny.

Well, on the sofa we have a pillow for her.
You know to make her extra comfy....

She really LOVES her pillow.

Lily is kind of like, "Hey, what about me?"....
(To be honest we are ALL Lily's pillows.
Don't believe the face. She is NOT neglected.)

So...  I notice one day. Honey is as comfy as can be on her pillow.
Lily is sitting on the sofa near her.

Honey is very happy alone.

Lily, not so much.

I look back a minute later, and Lily had just taken the edge of the pillow.
Honey was not pleased.

A minute later....
Lily had the pillow to herself.
Lily was very happy.

But really... Honey and Lily LOVE each other.

So, when I looked over today (a couple of days later) and saw this:
It just made me smile.
Awe, how cute. They decided to share.

Indy's preferred sleeping spot:
Really anywhere on her Daddy.

Ember?
Lately, she has been choosing my shoes. Doesn't matter which.
Normally, her momma's chest.

Lily does try and steal our pillows too!

And sometimes....
Todd multitasks.  Bird Bed and Doggy Armrest cuddle post.

Valentine's Day!

Valentine's Day 2014!

I made some pink cookies, which is no small feet out here.

Strainer or cooling tray?
Ah, we are in Asia.  It is all the same!

Little mini stove top oven!

Came out yummy!

Fun little treats for the girls before school.

A little 'doctor', get it?
Bow Tie, little hat!

I got a little friend too!

Kay with her little friend.

Oh.  Todd gave me a sweet necklace too.
5 hearts.  One for each of us.

I love it.

For dinner, Todd invited me to this 'new' Mexicanish place we heard about.
The girls heard his invitation, and said they were coming too! Lol!

Why is all the good food so far from our home!?!

Hi!

Finally, we found it.
Just to give you an idea how hard it is to see these places.

YES!

Burritos were SO GOOD!

We had a fun evening and dinner.
We decided to go to a movie the next night,
as it was rush hour and a little too crowded downtown for us.

Here for a slight glimpse of what it is like look above...

Don't worry.  We sent a little package of love to this cutie too!

Happy Valentine's Day from Hong Kong!
