TNT - Singapore

After arriving home from our week in California,
Todd was notified his first week at his new position would be in Singapore.
Literally, we landed in the morning on Sunday and he had to fight to leave on Sunday at 4pm, rather than noon.   Seriously, need some laundry time! lol.
Anyhow, he ended up having to head back to Singapore a few times in the first month,
so he brought me with for one of the trips!

The weather was crazy, and I was only there for three days,
but it was fun to get to experience Singapore.

We had a pretty nice hotel, with a balcony. I LOVE to be up high and to have a balcony is like heaven to me.  So awesome!

Some pics from the balcony.

This tall building looked like a ship on a platform!
It is crazy!   One of Todd's coworkers actually took us up there.
It is a bar/party scene type of place, with the biggest pool ever.
Totally seems safe.  Tons of drunk people high up in the sky swimming.

We had to walk through this super sized casino to get there.
Non-smoking by the way.  We didn't gamble, just waved.

Did I mention Singapore is more humid than a Sauna and hot?
Darn equator.

Todd with Vince and Sabrina from work.
They are local Sporeans (what Singapore people are called, it is true).
We had dinner with them at a nice little Japanese restaurant,
and then some fruit punch from on top of the party boat in the sky.

I told Todd, since we could SEE our hotel from the boat, we didn't need a cab back - we should walk.
It was beautiful evening, albeit hot and humid.
I loved this double Helix bridge.

another view from the boat

Cool church you could see from our balcony

View of Todd working in the room, with the city's reflection on the windows.

 Me, enjoying the view.

I took a cab to Todd's onsite location to have lunch him one day.
He wanted me to meet some work peeps, and see his local.
The cab drivers in SG speak great English btw.

Signs out there make me laugh too...

Most of the locals eat at these places called "Hawking Centers"
They pronounce it more like Hawka Centers though.
Food is very cheap and lots of options...
Couple of draw backs.
1. It is HOT and Humid and they are outside.
2.  SLATHERED in MSG

So, we were lame and had lunch in the AC of a little sandwich shop.
Wish the other food didn't have SO much MSG, cause the sandwiches were yuck.
Look how poofy my hair was.  No amount of product could tame the amount of humidity, ha!

We made up for the yucky sandwiches at dinner time and got delish ice cream, brownie sundaes!

They had a copy of the Eye of London!

I was not exaggerating about the weather.
I caught some shots of a storm blowing in from our hotel room view.

Within minutes.  Zero visibility and tons of thunder and lightning.

My favorite part of Singapore that I saw in my short time there,
The Night Safari and the Bird park.

The Night Safari is amazing.
The animals are set up in an environment that is to mimic their natural state, and feels open and free.  To the point that I was a little worried that Tigers and Heina's might come say, "Hi!"
Very awesome.  You can just walk through most of the exhibits with the animals wondering around you, freely.

We took the tram ride, I highly recommend it!

Ok.  The Wallaby Trail was my favorite.

Duffy's too.

No flash is allowed, to protect the nocturnal animal's eyes,
so this is as good as it gets.
These little cuties were just walking around our feet.
ADORABLE and amazing!

We had so much fun, beautiful park.

The Zebra cafe was so cute too.

We were able to check out the Bird park, briefly before our flight home.
I could LIVE in that bird park.

Even strays are begging to get in.

They had the biggest aviaries I have ever seen.
This Waterfall was inside one of the aviaries.

Super cute hubby made the experience more fun too!
He is so photogenic!

We took the tram ride there too.
more pics from the waterfall aviary, brilliant.

An eagle said hello to us.

Ok.  My favorite part of the trip!!!
They have the LARGEST Lory Aviary in the World!

With more Lory diversity than I have ever seen in one place.
HEAVEN!

They even had a couple Blue-Streaks!!!!

I might have a SLIGHT prejudice, but I was in LOVE with this baby and sweet talked her out of the trees to me.

After we had a wonderful time with touring the Loft,
a crazy thunderstorm started...
Luckily, we had time for Todd to humor me and pose on the cool rope bridge!

I said it would be cool if he could pose with a friend, so he worked his stuff!

No Lory can resist the excited facial gestures!

Awww, how cute!
Nice work, Todd!

Seriously, was in love with diversity!

We waited out the storm under the shelter.
It was loud and very wet, but the birds didn't seem phased.
They were like, yah this is normal.

This little buddy somehow escaped.
He wants back in, but they can't seem to catch him.
We were worried about his health, until we realized he escaped over a month ago.
He looked very healthy, so he has something figured out.

It was VERY wet after we left the Lory Loft.
One little bird (that wasn't so little) was complaining.

The front of the train has a Lory face, cute!

just because

These birds make me laugh, every time!
Don't they know how silly they look in a tree with those long legs??

Duffy and I got caught in a bird cage!

We had a wonderful time in Singapore.  It is only a 4 hour flight from HK.  We definitely need to bring the kids back there for a visit!

Oh, Todd found his happy place at the airport.

Until next time...
