Hong Kong (I Know AGAIN!)

As has been mentioned,
 previously and repeatedly
over the past year..
TODD IS IN HONG KONG!!!!

It is so funny when I remember back to a time
when I thought New York, Chicago or PA were sooo far away...
Oh and a 2-3 hour time difference, annoying!!
That is now laughable!

Depending on the time of the year
(with daylight savings and all, HK doesn't save daylight)
Hong Kong is either 15-16 hours in the future.
Currently, 15.
Meaning 8am in Hong Kong is 5pm here...
Really a challenging time difference.
Todd gets off work at 6pm, which is 3am CA time.
...

Meaning, it is really hard for me to SLEEP when Todd is in HK!
I MISS HIM!
I LOVE HIM!!!
Which means sleeplessness...

Anyhow...
Todd, wasn't planning on returning to Hong Kong this year.
Well, aside from the Vacation with the family there in February.
We really wanted the children to have the opportunity to share in the magic.

Interestingly, after we were out there,
A  colleague from the area, saw our pics of  us out there and contacted him.
The colleague had a client that was in desperate need of his services.
They passionately requested that he 'help' them out for a few months.
At first, we were going to say NO WAY.
15 hour time difference, 16 hour flights.  TOO MUCH craziness.
But, it would be fun to be able to have an excuse
to go back and visit a couple more times...

Ultimately, we decided we would do it.

Not a big commitment, so sure!

Then, we talked to the children.
They wanted the opportunity to live there, not just visit.
To learn the language.
To study abroad.
Experience another world for a year.
Yah, they were a bit enchanted too...

Really, what an amazing opportunity...
So...
We have been trying to figure out how to make this happen for them.

The company Todd is working with is applying for Hong Kong ID's for us (essentially residence cards).
and we are trying to figure out the rest of the details currently...

Logan & Krystin had the opportunity to go to Hong Kong over their spring break a couple weeks ago.  We wanted them to see the schools to make sure they were serious.  They were.  They love it!  They actually threatened to hide and stay?!
Kayla is excited for the opportunity, also...  She couldn't miss school, so she offered to take care of the pets (and make a little cash) while we were away.  She did an excellent job, btw. (:

Our current plan is put everything in storage.
and just go!
Not the pets, just the stuff.
I will post on that later.

You only live once, right?!

Now, I have a LOT of work to do in preparation, holy moly.
Wish ME/us LUCK!!

Bonus:  Here are some pics from our last adventure out there...
After NOT seeing Todd for 4 weeks... :(

i miss HIM!!!

Krystin and Logan wanted to show Kay the sunsprite

Since, Todd is there so extensively he had to secure a flat while he is out there.
It is really close to his work, and has free transportation.
This is the bus, takes him right to work (which happens to be located in a mall)...
Strange, right?  A big business building that you get to in a mall?!
Convenient none the less...
 Some pics of the 'Flat'
View waiting for bus...
 KC and Lo waiting ...
There is a clubhouse with a gym, indoor/outdoor pools, internet area and a bowling alley?
Also, in the complex is an international grocery store, laundry service, pet store, hair cutting salons, circle k, and much more....

 Flat is on floor 50
Here's the view.

and there is even a small balcony...
if you are feeling brave, ha!

Oops. detour...pics are out of order..
Ok, I swear my kids do NOT want to live in HK,
because they like the McDonald's treats better!
Right guys?! Right???

The drop off/pick up spot from the free shuttle to the flat at the mall.
 KC enjoying some baked goods...

Ok, back to the tour...
Living room/dining area/balcony
 Kitchen/laundry roomish

bedroom one
(Flat came furnished, as you can see.
The beds are more like rocks than mattresses, why?!)

Closer view of kitchen/laundry
(no dryer, yah...)

dining area/bedroom 2

bathroom (with a porcelain throne, always a plus)
 second bedroom

So, yes.   small, and quaint.
We are planning on keeping this flat and getting another when we all get out there in the same building.
The flats are all about the same size, that will have to work.
On the same floor would be sweet, but there are only 8 flats on each floor.
So we will see.

What do you do when Daddy is at work?
Go adventure.
I love the cable cars in HONG KONG!

Duffy loved the view through the floor!

We said a quick Hi to Buddha,
we didn't do the steps this time though!

Logan expressed his displeasure in the inadequate sun coverage that his baseball cap was offering.
Problem solved for 4 dollars US, sweet!
 Krystin's name in Chinese
Yah.  I needed a hat too.

Krystin couldn't pass up the opportunity to dance on air!

Logan, who I previously thought was a bit afraid of heights,
couldn't resist either!
 Brave, huh?!  LOL

On the last day, right before we left...
We met with this school to find out possibilities....
Yes, they have an American International school.
Well, the curriculum is American (with international influence),
the students not so much! Ha!
Krystin and Logan can be mascots!

We are still working out lots of details, as you might imagine,
but we are going to give it our best SHOT!
I will update soon!

WOW---Really? I am glad that you will get to see your hubby more. You are brave. Sounds like a fun adventure! Glad you are going to keep us posted!

Wow! What an adventure and how nice it will be not to have to miss your Todd so much. You two are so sweet together! It is great that your kids are so adventurous also! Your Pets will miss you so much, but it will be for a "short" time and Todd, I am sure, will be so glad to have family with him instead of being lonely!
