The journey to Hong Kong

Let me just say this...
Moving internationally,
without a service
(or probably even with one)
Is Exhausting!
(yes, and then bring the pets, gets more interesting)...

Todd and I literally did not sleep more than 3 hours a night the week before we moved.  He still had to work.  Kids still had a million things going on and finals (which they took early) and awards banquets, and we had to be ready to go out of the country by an end time!  It was INSANE.  Nothing LESS than insane.  Todd and I were awake for about 36 hours at the time we got on the plane, working around the clock finishing packing, putting stuff in storage and cleaning...  Craziness.....

We arrived in Hong Kong on a Sunday Night.
Todd had to be in the office Monday morning...
Jet lagged and exhausted.
We were all crispy.

I, honestly, was so dizzy and jet lagged it took almost two weeks to snap out of it.
During that two weeks we were also trying to secure a second flat, and set life up, which has been a little more complicated than it should have been....
Lets just say, the first furnished flat worked out...
The second has been a nightmare.
New beds. refrigerators. ac units...  wood mites?
(what the heck is a wood mite and why do they exist!)
In the middle of trying to sort all that out,
about 2 weeks and 3 days after arriving in Hong Kong...
Todd's sister passed away..... :(
So horrible...
and We spent the next week flying back to the US
to be there for her memorial.
Needless to say,
it has been a bit of a stressful last month.

I am trying to get my head back on strait
and record some of the happenings with the move,
before I forget (or block them out, LOL!).

Here is a small glimpse of the last few days...
Before moving out to HK

lots of time was spent with good friends...

Why is moving so messy?

and exhausting....

Especially when you have to fit everything you want to take with you...
Into TWO suitcases

These two are ridiculously cute.
(and I have to say Josh is the best moving helper ever!)
He helped us until 1:30am the night before we left,
shuttle to take us to the airport arrived at 8am.

Ok, rewind.
Pics are out of order,
but seems appropriate
as that is how my head feels right now and then too.

Track awards night.

Yes, the sun was bright!

Awww, that helps.
(she was slightly exhausted from like 5 finals and packing)
Oh, and my Dad was there!
and it HAPPENED to be his Birthday!
Happy Birthday, Dad!
Love you!

Krystin officially earned her
Varsity letter!!!
and because she has a 4.1 GPA -
a scholar athlete patch to go with it!

That and
--She Was LEAGUE Champ in the 400 meter!!!--
In one of the fastest leagues in the country!
Her 4x400 relay team won league as well!
Congratulations, Krystin, or Lightning Bug!!

 Logan getting his track award!

Track awards ended at around 8pm... Thursday.
Kids have zero period on Friday and final things to turn in...
But still had to pack too..
Poor kids...

Friday night looked something like this.
We left Saturday at 8isham
Oh, and did I mention 2 suitcases,
WITH A WEIGHT LIMIT of 55 pounds!
That is just rude!
 Yes, these two were entertaining.

Ok.  Maybe we were getting silly as the hours went on.

Todd and I made about a bazillion trips to storage.
We were given special 24 hour access,
usually access is limited til 9pm.
Josh made a bunch of trips with Todd too!
He was awesome!
The early hours of the morning,
final details...
Logan had his Chinaman hat on in preparation of the journey.

 They felt pretty accomplished.
We were AMAZED that the Van could fit
ALL of OUR Luggage!!!
With room to spare!

Yah, we were somehow still smiling after 36 hours of no sleep.
I think it is because Todd gave the van driver 20 bucks
to wait an extra half hour so we could shower!
 Finally,  In Hong KONG!
and
All of our luggage made it...
(and no it was not under the 55 pound wt limit...  5 of the 8 luggages were like 20-30 pounds over...  Luckily, since Todd works for the airline (not as an employee though) they waived the additional fee...
Thank GOD!

 so blurry...
but I am sure we were a spectacle to see
Oh and then we had to fit all this in a cab...
Yah, took three.
With our luggage hanging out the back.
 But, everything made it...
and FINALLY, FINALLY!
I was able to see my furr/feathered babies again!!!
