Beach RUN!!!

The Doheney Beach RUN!

Every year to kick off the season the Cross Country team at Capo High has a Run to the Beach, followed by a great BBQ for all athletes and their families! Last year I was working and missed it, so this year (with two runners) when I could attend - I was SOOO HAPPY! The kids set out from a spot not too far from their high school and finish right at Doheney State Beach. The boys run about 13 miles, while the girls about 8 miles - then they all finish around the same time.

This was Krystin's longest run yet - and she did Awesome!
Logan was amazing too, as always!

We had to drop kids off at 8am to warm up and get going.

Todd taping Logan's legs to prevent Shin-splints!

"Bye kids run safe!"

Krystin with her sweet friend Caitlyn.
Ok, seriously, look at the pouch around Logan's neck.
Usually, he brings liquid for long runs, but since he knew there would be 4 watering stations what do you think he brought in there?
SO funny, his cell, lip balm, more tape (just in case), and sun glasses!
He actually texted me from the route to say hi!

So, Todd and I headed down to Doheney to wait for them and set up.
Oh, and did I mention that I signed up to bring Brownies and Gatorade?
That doesn't sound like a daunting thing, but really it was 4 DOZEN brownies.
I was baking all night the night before!
Oh, and my Dad made it out for this Labor Day Weekend, so he was able to Cheer them on as well, which was awesome!

Logan finishing his run!

and then Krystin too

We are so Proud of you TWO!

Kayla even came out to Support her sibs!

and No, she doesn't want to join the team!

On the other side!

It is really a Big EVENT, and the runners were ready for lunch by 10:30am!
Some of these runners were eating 2 or three burgers and hot dogs! Wow!

After lunch, the boys and girls headed down to the 50 something degree Ocean Water!
I am NOT kidding it was ICEY!
and then they began the annual tradition of throwing Freshman into the Sea!
It was actually really cute,
They were very considerate, made sure to remove electronics, socks and shoes, etc...
Then into the icey water! SPLASH!
It was MOSTLY the boy team participating, but then...
Some girls got caught by the boys and thrown in.

Logan had an idea.

"What Loge? You are going to get Krystin?"

Girls are NOT as easy to get though, they learned

The Girl's team fought for Krystin!
and she didn't go in...

but, Logan is a tricky guy.

and on the SECOND try
they BOTH went in! LOL!

It was PRETTY AWESOME!

After all the water fun there was a Parent meeting, and the team uniforms were passed out!

2010 XCountry Shirts!

Next Week is their FIRST Meet
7am-12pm
at Laguna Hills High!

We can't wait - Go Cougars!

Bonus: Krystin Blood work...
To Krystin's dismay, the specialist wanted one more blood test done.
She was REALLY not thrilled, but hung tuff!

Sorry buggles. I love you!
